Made from ceramic material in these 3 colors the glaze has a shine to it but the square lids in a dark gray are more matte in finish. Each lid has a gasket seal which allows for a tighter seal. This feature is important as it means the food stored can last longer due to the exclusion of air, moisture and other contaminants.
Older reviews seem to indicate that there was no seal but more recent ones confirm that they are air tight. So I think the manufacturers have improved their product with this feature. If the seal is ever in doubt you can work around that issue by enclosing food items in a zip lock bag and placing that into the container. So if you like the look of a container, but are concerned about how airtight it is then this solution is an option.
Capacity?
As you can see in the image these jars are not the same size. They have a cube shape to them and the dimensions are as follows -
- Larger - 10 by 10 by 10 inches
- Medium - 9 by 9 by 9 inches
- Small - 8 by 8 by 8 inches
